Dr. Jeffrey F. Grant attended The George Washington University wherein 2008 he completed his Doctoral studies in Education Leadership and Policy Studies and Masters’ of Arts in Educational Technology Leadership (2002). Dr. Grant has previously completed his undergraduate studies at the University of the District of Columbia and Howard University with degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. In 2005, Dr. Grant was appointed principal of Patricia Roberts Harris Educational Center where, during his three year tenure, he raised achievement levels in Reading and mathematics greater than twenty percentage points, improved in-seat attendance, and decreased the truancy rate. Next, he was appointed principal at Walker-Jones Education Campus where, in one year, mathematics achievement increased from 19 to 41 percent and reading grew from 24 to 38 percent. Dr. Grant was later promoted to the Central Office of DCPS as the Director of Families and Parents in the Office of Families and Public Engagement. He developed the guidelines for all DCPS administrators to successfully work with parents and guardians. In April 2011 he was asked to lead Ferebee-Hope Community School to stabilize the environment. The achievement levels in In 2013 Dr. Grant was named the principal of Friendship Charter School’s Blow-Pierce Academy where he currently remains as its school lead administrator. Blow-Pierce Elementary and Middle Schools have attained Tier 1 status under the DCPCSB Performance Management Framework under his leadership. Dr. Grant’s education philosophy incorporates strong parental engagement, character education, experiential education, and quality partnerships as means of raising academic achievement. In the summers he leads principals from all over the world in their efforts to develop their philosophies and strategic plans at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Principals’ Center. He has presented at conferences for the federal government and non-profit organizations and was the keynote speaker at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) for African-American History Month in 2011. Dr. Grant is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and was named the recipient of its Dr. Paul Phillips Cooke Esteemed Educator Award in 2015. Native Washingtonians, Dr. Grant and his wife currently reside in the DMV area where they are raising four children together.
